BIPAI Kenya, established in 2007, will operate a center of
excellence (COE) in Kisumu, on the campus of the New Nyanza Provincial
Hospital. The COE was originally scheduled to begin construction in December
2007, but activity in Kenya was halted and staff withdrawn in the wake of
post-election political violence.
BIPAI subsequently returned at the invitation of the
government in 2009, resumed construction in 2010, and established transitional
pediatric HIV, TB and malaria care and treatment services at the New Nyanza
Provincial Hospital. The COE is scheduled to open in 2012.
